Four things seen from Yugoslavia I remember profoundly of America

My mother was brought up in #communist #yugoslavia. The #uk saw this always as an acceptable #thirdway (#tonyblair’s own hadn’t been invented at the time).

The #us, meantime, had no such delusions.

At least, when I was a kid and being taken on summer holidays to what was always #croatia not #yugoslavia for my mum, that’s how I saw it — even when I was very young. You don’t know how bad it gets unless as a young man or woman you grow up checking your words even when lying on your own bed. You don’t know the evils of #communism until, like water, it seeps into everything you live.

It was, after all, the #british #foreignsecretary #douglashurd who argued non-#serbs should not be armed by the #allies because this would increase the total body-count. ‘Hardly seemed to matter that more non-#serbs would die than the aggressors in the matter, if such a policy had been followed. The important thing was to keep the total numbers down: liberty and freedom weren’t then ever fundamentals of #british #politics, now were they? Perhaps not now, either.

The foodbank crisis in the #uk no one must mention

Ultimately, it took the influence of the #us to righten the sinking ship. Maybe #margaretthatcher, too. In this sense, she was always a bit of an outlier.

But not that bit of the #uk establishment the likes of #hurd represented. A direct lineage can be drawn, tbh, from that assertion by #hurd and #mi5’s future moral and technological capitulation to #china and #russia both, in collaboration with the #british #conservativeparty as it became under #borisjohnson’s influence, alongside his not-so-secretive #russian funders and #oligarch friends.

I remember four things of the #us from that time, etched into my youthful #english brain like a sizzling brand on the rump of a breed of the best pedigree animal.

1. The magazines #time and #newsweek, bought at the newspaper shop in the harbour of #velilošinj: a little late in the week; but full of good journalism that in their analytical power were sufficient beacons of hope in themselves.

2. The then #internationalheraldtribune which I would buy with my own pocket money. It was a magnificent compendium of different newspapers. I remember reading one of the many I read over the years in a sun-infused piazza in #venice one morning, with #barrymanilow’s #copacabana floating out through a first-floor window. My magdalene, for sure …

3. Then there was #life magazine: what fabulous photographic reportage of the most deepening for a young mind like mine. I would read it once a holiday on the yearly visit to my mother’s friend #nada. She lived in #krapina — a small town not too far from #zagreb — and had been an #english #teacher all her life. She had them piling up in the corner of a room in her house. I’d riffle through them so joyfully whenever we visited. I’d spend hours with their colourful images.

I also loved #nada so much because she smoked so heavily, and my mother hated smokers. But for some reasons she couldn’t hate #nada. And she’s still alive, after all that tobacco: this wondrous big-hearted, small-town intelligence she manifests even now in her 90s. I will never forget how she loved, equally fulsomely, #american #waysofseeing when they weren’t what #trump et al turned them into.

4. Finally, #apollo. I was there when it happened. I was there when 13, too. I was so impressionable; yes I was, it’s true. I was impressed as well, because what I learnt from #nasa and its people all those years — and first and foremost 1 and its profound human sacrifice — set me up for a life where everything, even today, just has to still be all to play for.

And that’s what all these thoughts have led me to: just that.

Never give up.

Never.

Never when they assert that this or that #communism is ok. Never.

Never when they claim numbers outweigh principles, to save our humanity. Never.

And never, even when your homeland says you’re a paranoid schizophrenic instead of a gifted thinker, in order that no one will ever see you as a gifted thinker, and your gifts will never find a space to surface. Anywhere.

Never. Ever. Give. In.

Because I’m NOT #galileo. Never have been. And sincerely, frankly, firmly don’t intend to become.

on a human victory

https://gb2earth.com/research/newlean | https://newlean.org (ask me for the password if required — this is an ongoing project and developing whitepaper)

or what achievements really consist of

it's doing what you wanted
but only hoped for
and maybe you wanted more than you hoped for
and maybe you expected deep down
the sound of total victory
and anything else for a while seems like less
and maybe even feels like a failure of the deepest of all
but in truth a total victory just ain't what humans are about
when human is what we're about
because a total anything
is a pyrrhic everything

and so i begin to warm to you finally
and the idea that without writing a single line of code
i have convinced one of the biggest organisations in tech
and those companies that work alongside them true
that just my words and terms of english
have been enough to show how a new world
exists right out there
and that it's no longer on my part a failure of the worst
in any shape whatsoever
nor a loss of the least
to propose that i might accept working with disruption of this nature
primarily because the culture of the big and the small
in this case become us
as one and the same
and the same and the one
since both of us converging separately anon
have arrived at conclusions of parallel lines
where arguments cogently strung together
on two-pagers of simple a4
eschewing as we do the fancy graphics
of "say what you're going to say
and then say it
and then summarise it"
and where in fact the bullets pointedly hit
the marks of zero innovation
and even less invention
because to follow these paths so well-trodden --
so religiously i mean --
is to die a death of a thousand mutts
as dog-days encroach and shroud our thinking

for it's time once again to move well on
from the old old old man's valley
where even the youngest entrepreneur
finds themselves trained up in the fuddy-duddy
of the mere tweaking of tech
so no one may rock the boats of existing portfolios
nor business models galore (but actually hoary as hell)

because it's time the bells of brand new relationships
consecrated on firm and financially win/win terms
begin to bring to the world
the teams and reams
of the gutenberg of intuitive thinking:

the printing-press of arationality
changing the way we do technology much more easily
and being as there's no better way to do this
than working back from the customer always
in combination with a new lean that reasons
with care and compassion
and rationales of the very best
to the very VERY maximum
HOW to extract the truths NO ONE says
but EVERYONE knows full well
and all too well
and as well as the next
as we lie at night suffering the lies
that tie the world up in knots
and which have blotted our futures
as they are held by their throats
gory and cruel as the fossil fuels they freely promote even now
by those who care only for planets outside
and little for the one we all grew up on --
and here i mean all of us
and how i mean it's clearly seen
and how it's been! -- because this IS it i say:
WELL time we found amongst the rich and poor
the course that aligns our interests both
and so nothing better than a brand new process
that unleashes our humanity as never before

and so i'm ready to see what's next
not as failure for another
nor for me or them
nor total victory for me or another
nor us as we might see ourselves
nor even as the outputs of the lyricists of ancient harps
as they start to sing again out loud and proudly
but rather quite instead
a victory of the grandest for a GOOD citizenry
wishing to bring about a humanity of the brightest
by simply enabling our gut feeling and intuitive ingenuities
in ways we never imagined ever

this is what it is then this text i write
as i send this poem to the people who know much better than me
what's happening on the inside-out
and how this will affect the outside-in
and so from me -- as this --
just as a missive
of my final conformity
and my capacity to embrace you now --
those of you
who know (and how you do!) --
in my full cognisance
of the scientific and evidence-based realities
which (burnished anew)
will renew and repair the horrors these warlike peoples
have visited on the rest of us without qualms
where to date only psalms are able for now
to protect us with their prayers
and beseechings and readings
of the sacred stones
and the rites that serve strangely to right our wrongs ...

because whatever happens now
the killing-field will be levelled
and new lean will become the tool we use --
shining as we will ... for sure! -- to release
as we must and should
and ought to and would have
many many decades ago
if only we had cared to listen
to the equally sacred understandings in tow
which we blithely ignored
as stupidly tawdry attempts
to go beyond making easy money
and actually solving problems
which weren't just making more money it's true
in manners
quite ill-mannered and foolish and unkind
as we rewound to the past
even as our tech is of now
and even as we chose firmly to screw the world
for everything we could scrape
and make ours
to the exclusion of a legacy
we just DIDN'T want to make at all free
in any way whatsoever whatsoever

and so now all this changes
as i approach the companies
which working together
in common cultural dissonance and rub
with different ideas yet common outcomes even so
and uncommon sensibilities in beautiful consonances
for these are the resonances
which enriching
now demand we hand over to each other our destinies
not as passive fates
too late to the party to do anything wise
but instead to a common goal
that SHALL be that of rescuing our species
from its long-term idiocies
by tapping into that fabulous skillset and virtue
present all this goddamn time:
the intuition of a humankind
multiplied up a billion times and more
being you and you and you and you
and me and her
and thee and tree
and us ALL seeing clearly anew
as if never before ...
... ever before:
THIS all being
our shared future-present collective fate
awaiting us all from now on in
and no longer too late to the party i mentioned
because that party is the citizenry we will fully reconstitute
not as brutal future robots of silicon
but just sentient human beings
achieving the total victories of me and you
no longer gone ...

but i do i make sense (in worlds of incense)

My latest #poem on #siliconvalley’s corrupting choices, plus a link to the new online #whitepaper on #newlean … and other observations …

i'm incensed to be honest
and yet not:
no gorgeous odour drifts like a breeze
of glorious glees
nor assails plentifully my senses

but incensed i remain even so
at how rich people remain rich
by plundering our brains
and attacking our better selves
whilst all we had been asking for was this:

to be human to the max
to enjoy being in the sack even
with someone who hadn't met us online
before we began face-to-face to vibe ...
... who hadn't had us sussed

and hadn't trussed us up mentally
so that they saw us way earlier
than we ever saw them
via that den of thievery
that is silicon valley since forever and all

because the real problem now
is that surveillance to this max
which we conduct on each other
and use to blather and gossip about
so that the outcomes

become attempted suicides
and depressions of the most revealing
and the permanent anxieties
of living a life
as if it were a death on legs

that's what big tech has brought us to
and that's why i'm incensed as i am
and angry so very much
that the human touch even that
is now a monetisable gap

that an elon and satya
can invade and intrude with their choices
to make the kind of technologies that hurt
and be leaders of the worst
instead of wanting to be peers of the first

yes i am incensed in the western sense:
angry to the very maximum
and it seems my words fall
on barren grinds
of coffees never exchanged

yet in a more eastern sense
i smell your comprehension growing
and see you showing
an embrace approaching
to my ideas of #intuitionvalidation

and it's this incense i sense
of the flowers and the astringent
and the spices of natural inclinations
which i now turn to
as i turn my back on the west i was born to

because it's here i find my pals of thought
where nothing needs repeating
and nothing needs reasserting
and all is agreement and fulsome assent
and that's what it's all about:

knowing how your place
is no longer where you are
nor has ever been perhaps
and maybe it's never been so
and just time ... just time to go"

On the City of Chester UK (and why I stay …)

Chester was a place that gave a lot to me and took a lot from me.

It allowed me to grow into adulthood, with an epilepsy that struck me at ten years old, and was medicated with barbiturates until a better solution was duly found six years or so later.

In the 1970s it was a place of little attraction for young people, at least people like me … though now it has vibrant sociocultural institutions, and a small-town vibe that works for very many people.

But small-town vibe cuts both ways. It can lead to the beauty of the gentle and the unsuspected: of people who reach out to you and want to be reached out to, equally. Or it can lead to the embracing of criminal and mafia-like behaviours. Where who you know is much more important than what you describe and experience, even when you communicate it with absolute accuracy.

Today I saw in this very same town of Chester its very best side and its very worst. In its remembrance of the sacrifices of two world wars, and more before and since, it was exemplary and compassionate.

In its defence of mindsets I myself recall from my childhood — for example, things that happened at school to me and my classmates, which today would lead to criminal prosecutions — it also showed such evil people are still alive and literally kicking.

Earlier today, I was walking into the Tesco in the centre of town and a woman cut closely into my path with a suitcase trailing behind her. I had to stop. I bided my time. I then headed away from her into the shop itself, and lo and behold, she drove her suitcase, now in front of her, into the back of my left leg.

I turned round and she asked me if I was all right, with a beaming smile. I answered I was, and asked her pointedly if she was.

She said nothing. We went our separate ways. But the mindset she had didn’t. It planes over this city of two curious parts. One part, beautiful and scenic, in the physical, emotional and intellectual, and with the cultural organisation it never had in my childhood and now, obviously deservedly, manifests to the max for all who wish to value it properly:

storyhouse.com

But there’s another part, a quite different layer of society in Chester. It’s a layer which mainly chooses to defend its own very restricting, manipulative turf at the expense of the innovation and invention the first half not only treasures as it always attempted to, but is now capable of formulating wisely and assertively.

The layer which looks to defend its always-has-been looks to the past as a justification of all current behaviours: the woman with the suitcase and her mates videoing the scene are just a silly example of how the past can be (wrongly) used to justify a #gaslighting present.

The other layer, the one of cultural vision and fabulous statements where every human being has value, meantime, looks to Chester’s past not as a justification of the nowadays and the cruelties these others are continuing to deliver, but as a way of intelligently informing a collective future-present of the most wondrous: a world where all of us fit in, strive and eventually not just live but thrive.

This is Chester UK, then: the marvellously creative, wise, generous, gentle and compassionate on the one hand. And on the very beastly other, what I experienced in Tesco in the town centre not long ago: a group of people who have nothing better to do than track, using mobile phone tech and related, the simple movements of people, like myself, who will not stop telling inconvenient truths.

It’s Brexit Britain right down the line too, is the Chester I experienced today: so many good people who just want the best for the world, on the left of politics and in the decent centre both, whilst on the extreme right the monsters who, in truth, have become one-bit mobsters.

I spent most of my youth in Chester. I’m proud of the sociocultural environment its good people have managed to fight into being in the past few years from practically nothing previous.

Today’s incidents, on the back of other things I didn’t report on other days, because even sillier, have made up my mind, a mind that was unsure, for sure.

My decision after the Chester #gaslighters of this afternoon? I now intend to work here too, to join the better half.

Why?

After being unduly incarcerated back in 2003 by the outliers and institutions of this city, you’d maybe wonder why indeed. I’ll tell you, then. Now I shall. The good people who’ve stuck it out, and made this place so much better, deserve other good people to join the fight.

The bad, the one-bit mobsters I mean, don’t deserve anything any more. They certainly don’t deserve that the good abandon them to their victory.

In fact, they don’t even deserve our disapprobation.

Just to be ignored, is what they deserve. Just to be ignored.

I do join, then. The movement of the best. Not a city of #gaslighters. Not a city of beautiful #roman even.

No. Rather, a city which has begun to learn to fight a layered criminality with ALL the tools to hand. Something which in my childhood never seemed conceivable.

All the tools. Absolutely all. And even with the written word, I say.

My contribution.

The pen wins.

As does Chester.

why #neurodiversity doesn’t deserve its corner

‘truth is, if i accepted a label different from 2003, offered in good faith and so forth, then when i found something disturbing me in a public space, people would say, “hey we understand … you have a right to be disturbed …”

but since i think i’m just one more person with a right to have a zone of comfort within which i can feel consistently safe, i am accused of all manner of intolerances.

it’s not fair that society demands we have a label in order that we might be treated with equanimity. we should treat everyone with kindness, compassion and the awareness a wisely considered humanity offers our souls — whether we judge that person to be in particular need of support or not.

not only, that is, because they have an official neon sign that indicates they are human beings of the best (which they are, by the by: yes they are).

i really am not arguing against the concept of #neurodiversity. rather, i’m arguing against the fact it must exist in a corner in opposition to that which is frankly not human.

no one is #neurotypical. as laing & esterson said, when they pronounced in “sanity, madness and the family” that they didn’t even recognise the right of schizophrenia to be present in human thought as a concept never mind a reality, so i refuse to accept that #neurotypical can possibly be a cogently functioning reality of the #humancondition.

we are all #neurodiverse or none of us are. ergo, if some of us clearly are, all of us obviously must be.

why is this important? like a #mentalillness located primarily in the individual as opposed to a #mentaldistress emerging from a toxic environment, the solutions needed are different. with the former we focus on the person as cause of the dysfunction and the solutions are pharmaceutical. effectively, we blame the victim.

for me, you see, it’s the latter which is the principle cause of most #mentalillhealth these days. it’s not the individual we must fix: it’s the places and spaces, both physical and socioeconomic, both sociopolitical and criminological, both cultural and business-related, whose own profound dysfunctions have to be addressed.

an example: #rape is properly prevented by ensuring it’s the culpable men and other actors in truly bad faith we direct our attention robustly and unswervingly at, never the victim we inhibit through disbelief and victim-shaming.

equally, then, we don’t efficiently address #neurodiversity in the long-term by saying it is the challenge.

because #neurodiversity doesn’t need its space. it’s unthinking, unhelpful, dogmatic belief systems such as the idea of being #neurotypical — and that any human of minimal compassion can ever consider it proper and accurate to use the term “normal” about anyone — which need removing.

why? the dogma of normal, as sketched out briefly today, invokes its counterpoint: the process of abusive #othering that is being called “abnormal”.

and this is the high ground none of us humans must cede ever again.

WHY be so secretive about #freethinking on rockets?

What if the real reason the #elonmusks of our time are forcing #humans back into physical workplaces is because they know if it doesn’t happen more widely, then their long-existent, highly prized, and presumably immensely costly #secrecypositive thinking-spaces, based in such physical locations, will begin to lose their advantages over what was once a mostly blindsided European tech and socioeconomic sector?

Mil Williams, 9th July 2023, Stockholm Sweden

Background

From the slides included below today:

“Our defensible position is clear: all big #it companies long ago chose not to sell it. Instead, they preferred to use it for their own innovations. Perhaps not technologies or platforms as such – but certainly the idea: totally hermetic tools of creativity and business modelling.”

But not only that: #espionage, #nationbuilding, interfering with due #democratic process … and #cultural/#industrial #intellectualproperty/#ip, and its broader tracking.

Yes. The final image above says “With A Little Help From My Friends” …

And actually, really rather a lot. Because I do have them, too. Though some spread the half-truth it ain’t so.

Why this post today

However, I’m not posting again about this brief and perhaps not overwhelming slide-deck to repeat myself. No.

It’s because I had an insight yesterday evening, late. I’ve been reading surveys from PwC and others — really cool surveys which shape narratives and edit reality interestingly, well and deliberatedly — which talk of how #innovation amongst the less advantaged has increased. And then again, more generally, how #innovation in digitally connected and aware organisations is increasing leaps and bounds over the olde-worlde office-bound competition.

I wonder something else, in the light of my slide-deck’s thesis: what if for the first time — post-pandemic times, I mean — everyone is innovating? Not just the companies of #techbarons which own already, use habitually, and restrict the distribution fiercely of #privacypositive and #secrecypositive thinking-spaces. The spaces that mean 29 out of the top 30 Internet companies aren’t European:

No.

In this sense, partly so, with hybrid and working-from-home workflows, it’s become easier to hack into a part of the system but also — maybe even more — harder for intrusive #bigtech to establish the overall narrative arc of a potential new competitor, in respect of an equally potential #innovation — or even #invention! — in the throes of. Like the difference between traditional warfare versus guerrilla, perhaps?

The real reason #techbarons want their workforces back behind THEIR closed doors

What if the real reason the #elonmusks of our time are forcing #humans back into physical workplaces is because they know if it doesn’t happen more widely, then their long-existent, highly prized, and presumably immensely costly #secrecypositive thinking-spaces, based in such physical locations, will begin to lose their advantages over what was once mostly blindsided European tech and socioeconomic sectors?

What do I mean?

In the face of the #totalsurveillance #panopticon used by aggressive corporates — particularly #bigtech corporates — against anyone they decided was a threat, there was little the rest of the world — without a shield of some sort, I am saying — could do to protect its ideas. Or even develop them half usefully before they were gouged into non-existence.

But maybe, just maybe, that competitive advantage began to fizzle during pandemic. With everyone outside #secrecypositive and/or #secrecy-obsessed HQs, and the world all operating from home, two consequences emerged:

1. Everyone worldwide was in just about the same conditions, as far as the visibility of #innovation and #invention was concerned.

2. Suddenly a new openness — a confidence that it was OK to be nonconformists in front of colleagues — began to arise. We communicate via Zoom, in pyjamas, wild cats running across desks, children bursting in unexpectedly … and business, serious starched white-collar business, is suddenly exposed to real human life. In business contexts. And what’s more, it works.

Of course, collaterally, we’d gain equal confidence to THINK as WE TRULY HAVE BEEN THINKING all these years! Only they never let us shine … hardly once.

Should we then forget about our own #secrecypositive thinking-spaces?

Am I suggesting that there’s no need for #privacypositive and #secrecypositive thinking-spaces of our own?

No. I’m not.

Even whilst we are more dispersed and yet creatively so at the moment, and even as this makes the overall shape of a competitor’s #innovation more difficult to sense as well, sooner or later they will work out a way. But in the meantime, they need US all back in OUR offices and locatable, just as much as they need THEIR workforces back in THEIR offices, and once more hideable.

In truth, isn’t it the case that hybrid and working-from-home workplaces are to the #secrecy-obsessed #techbarons what #opensource at its most competent most competently was to closed source? A breath of collaborative and hyper-creative air in often challenging and anti-creative hyper-competitive environments.

Our challenge now

The question is: do we now have the balls to deliver for our humanity what #techbarons multiple have only ever cared to deliver for themselves?

And perhaps not even fully for their shareholders … not even this!

After all, the species is burning the planet, #bigtech has kept to itself this #freethinking on steroids I discuss in this post (and other places, too) for all these years … and all they’ve been able to use it for instead is making money out of a pandemic and putin’s three wars. As well some untold number of other human tragedies …

I’d guess since #totalsurveillance itself was implemented: 2003, says anyone?

Because NO ONE in the history of warfare has ever invented a sword without developing it’s related shield. So whilst the digital #panopticon was applied for reasons we all understood clearly in their day, #bigtech has sold global humanity short ever since.

How? I’d surmise by developing the aforementioned #freethinking on rockets — but for purely selfish gain.

In summary

Shouldn’t we all now REALLY feel cheated by the #techbarons of the world who act like this?

Actually, I think we should. Look. Give us all a break, guys. The planet needs us to be all at the top of our games much much more than rockets to Mars ever will.

How about we collaborate instead?

Ever heard of a philosopher kind of a guy called John Forbes Nash Jr?

On future-proofing #ai

In a nutshell — or a chipset! — what I propose we do asap is move radically away from the more recent division of power and hierarchies between admins versus users that has shaped #ai and #it ever since the arrival of the Internet, towards the suggested conflation of admin and user in one.

Mil Williams, 3rd July 2023, Stockholm Sweden

Proposal

Would anyone in #scandinavia, more specifically I’d be bound to say #sweden, like to begin work on designing and implementing, from scratch, a totally repurposed set of #ai- and #it-related architectures and frameworks in order to create absolutely future-proof ethical and privacy-positive #ai and #it frameworks?

That is: do for #ai what I have already suggested via the concept of a digital equivalent of the #privacypositive and #secrecypositive attributes pencil and paper have for centuries conferred on us:

https://www.secrecy.plus/spt-it

The original “intuition validation engine” README on GitHub

In this case, in respect of #ai- and #it-#tech, I would suggest using a starting-point I already clearly described with the original 2019 specification of the #intuitionvalidationengine (i’ve) (currently on my GitHub account in private mode, and reproduced in full below):

intuition-validation-engine

The goal of this engine is to permit both human and machine intuition to be validated.

This will be done constantly, but not intrusively. People and machines will have a choice, always.

It is assumed that for the purposes of this project both parties will be encouraged to upskill the other in mutual dialogue and equal partnership.

It is also assumed, a priori, that the keywords for the processes involved will be:

1. A procedure of CAPTURE, controlled by humans on the one hand and machines on the other, where neither will be obliged to share ideas, content and personal data that they do not feel safe sharing.

2. A procedure of EVIDENCING, where the captured data can be stored, retrieved, shaped and patterned, and used for supportive purposes that expand the lives and experiences of the beings concerned.

3. A procedure of VALIDATION, where it becomes clear to everyone participating: a) why a human being might believe and act in a certain way; and equally so, b) why the machines that prefer to work within the framework of this project will arrive at their own particular positions and conclusions.

Finally, it is hugely important that everyone who chooses to work on the project might easily understand that it is not a traditional software paradigm: let us assume, instead, that people, code, machines and all other objects participating will form part of a new space we might call “i’ve”.

That is to say, there will be no distinction or hierarchy in this space between the individuality of the objects in question, with respect to their entity as sovereign actors. In this sense, all will enjoy becoming part of a multiple-perspective environment, and all will help to support and contribute to a wider and transcendental knowledge that both befits and benefits others.”

https://ive.home.blog

So.

Alongside the clearly developed initial architectural philosophy stated above, i would then have us move on to working with the #platformgenesis progression of the original concept as it existed since 2019:

https://platformgenesis.com | see also the attached slides

Then, with further collaborative actions, especially in the light of other technologies developed since, we could begin to properly propose an absolutely future-proofed #ai and #it-#tech which, as per their real-world template of pencil and paper, could never NOT become privacy- and ethically-sensitive, whatever the regulatory demands created in the future by any global or regional body.

This would be my objective from two directions: legal and technological; abandoning neither for the other. And making both future #ai and #it-#tech as firmly #ethical and #privacypositive by design as to make regulatory innovations that might challenge it impossible to design.

To summarise

In a nutshell — or a chipset! — what I propose we do asap is move radically away from the more recent division of power and hierarchies between admins versus users that has shaped #ai and #it ever since the arrival of the Internet, towards the suggested conflation of admin and user in one.

The division described has, in my judgement, severely — and increasingly — affected the citizens and workforces who strive to function and live creatively, despite the challenges, in Western corporates and wider societies when needing to think freely. These needs arise in many — if not all — fields of endeavour too, and in most during mission-critical moments and when decisions have to be taken using an unpickable #highleveldomainexpertise (something we sometimes are also happy to call #gutfeeling) which becomes the only thing we may be able to reliably depend on.

The real existential challenge for our democracies and business discourses and praxis then arises when we fail to think as freely as others who, with a clear and ongoing possession and enjoyment of #privacysensitive and #secrecysensitive architectures and technologies, maintain their capacity to beat us hands-down, at least on the #intuition side of societal and business activities:

https://crimehunch.com/terror | concentrate here on considering which team would be best at a new “what and how” (I’m happy, meanwhile, to recognise that pattern-recognition capabilities in machines will inevitably process vast amounts of data better when focussing on more concrete questions of “who and when”)

OUR end-to-end thinking. The creative crimefighting we now need: bringing together the complementary and existent interests and skills of military, security and law-enforcement into one macro-team of defenders of the species.

Mil Williams, 2nd July 2023, Stockholm Sweden

On eliminating the Petri dish of Putin & Co’s creatively criminal strategies towards a European and wider longitudinal dislocation

Introduction

This is the current law-enforcement, security and military situation as I see it:

1. Organised crime funds Putin & Co’s Russia by embedding itself in local communities across Europe and other regions: it’s effectively the last mile of creative criminality:

https://crimehunch.com/neocrime

https://omiwan.com/the-humans

2. Organised crime is then the deep connector of glocal (global <-> local) reach. It makes it possible for top-down and bottom-up approaches to moving illegal money around and in respect of its generation, capture, and delivery to easily acquire an almost impossible to unpick synthesis of seamless functioning.

3. It also allows Putin & Co to longitudinally gather data — on local turfs and from great distances — on trends, movements and rising individuals in democratic systems that might all prove threats to the established order he and his kind continue to strategise in order to achieve and sustain.

This is why I argue that in order to develop a capacity to prevent another #ukraine from ever being contemplated, never mind delivered on, we need to create human-enhancing technologies that empower good human beings like ourselves to fight back with a “War & Peace (II)” approach:

That is to say, for a change our kind of war on our sort of terms: but even so, permanent and ongoing; and then again, our kind of peace on our sort of terms: and even so, permanent and ongoing.

What will the process leading to these preferred outcomes consist of?

1. Identifying sources of power and wealth which to date could have contributed to #ukraine not happening and which, nevertheless, have chosen either a) to effectively sit on the sidelines and watch the region burn; or b) have proactively consented to and created the environments and frameworks which have led directly to #ukraine: nation-states; large transnational corporations and others with huge reserves of cash and wealth of various kinds; zemiological actors of multiple kinds.

2. With this information to hand, we robustly and firmly ringfence these actors future participation in:

a) our own future human-interfacing and enabling tech tools and platforms; and

b) the strategic and longitudinal reconstruction of a wider Western democracy.

I suggest, above all, that as a general principle we do NOT use the often self-interested advisory and consulting processes of tech and related corporate organisations when scoping, developing and configuring the natures of the architectures of our proposed new software and hardware architectures and frameworks.

Instead, from our own university and other research institutions we build up teams of our own consulting and advisory specialists consisting of human-related and tech-related researchers both — as well as others who may be chosen to be upskilled in such skillsets, in the collective democratic future-present we wish to forge anew — in order to create a permanent future-present capability in such processes.

The proposal would then employ big tech and related SIMPLY AND ONLY as implementers of, never participants in, our secret sauces.

After all, you cannot invite into the kitchen of future Western stability those organisations which have actively collaborated in the poisoning of Western democratic ways of acting and engaging with complex problems — either by default and their sitting on the sidelines, or through an affirmation on their part of criminal activity by their working alongside and continuing to gladly invoice such organisations in full knowledge of their ongoing zemiology:

We can however, I now firmly believe, use such corporations as simple extensions of fully formed projects which reach them with absolutely all the necessary specifications and requirements ready drawn-up by the aforementioned bespoke teams of OUR own researchers and in-house advisory & consulting experts.

To summarise

If we follow the above path, in this way:

a) we won’t lose the agility of large corporates’ manifest capability to deliver massively on clear specifications when everything is duly finalised and competently in possession of its always necessary roadmap;

b) but, equally, we don’t allow them to move us in the direction of solutions which continue to be optimal for their bottom lines but not for a European and wider security and safety environment:

c) nor will we lose the element of absolute internal and external secrecy we need if, in any reasonable way, we are to successfully fight back against Putin & Co’s longitudinal strategising in favour of the sustenance of his own brand of creative criminality and its related Petri dish.

Because it’s time to break into unusable pieces that serve zero purpose the Petri dish of Putin & Co that enables local-turf criminality from feeding — ultimately — into the pockets of their aspirations to global dislocation and domination.

Because it all starts from that neighbourhood you live in, where you enjoy shooting the breeze with the man you know, for sure, to be a gangster.

And it all ends in the bloodied baby’s cot in a Kyiv apartment block.

Let’s think as creatively as the criminals, for a change

OUR end-to-end thinking. The creative crimefighting we now need: bringing together the complementary and existent interests and skills of military, security and law-enforcement into one macro- and hyper-team of defenders of the species.

Just that.

And so then, finally, by both scoping and using new tech architectures which Putin & Co cannot bribe themselves into acquiring under any circumstances, we make it increasingly difficult for #ukraine to happen ever again.

background

i trained in spain as an editor in the early part of the 2000s. but as someone who always blogged better than he authored, i already had the custom of attributing my ideas through the tool and habit of hyperlinking.

attribution is really important: not because it inevitably takes us down a peg or two, although it does. more importantly, an outcome with shape to it is more valuable than an outcome, full stop.

the memex machine

i realised this consciously ever since reading vannevar bush’s treatise on human thought: “as we may think”.

you can find it in “the atlantic” to this day:

https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/1945/07/as-we-may-think/303881/

in it, using the immediate post-war tech available, and any future tech extrapolated from the same, he suggested a machine called the #memex. it would enable human thought to the extent that we would not only be able to store outcomes — what those most interested in making money would consider a product or service to be scaled up massively — but store the trails of thought that would always lead up previously (and to my mind — and bush’s — also preciously) to such outcomes.

because when a thought is a reel of thoughts not just a pic which snaps shut on time … this is when we have a human being rather than a machine.

the implications of attribution’s fact

the result of all the above? NOTHING we think up is independent of ANYTHING. as a consequence, it is tantamount — just about — to daylight (and more importantly, night-time) robbery to claim one has an exclusive right to make money out of any idea “you might EVER have”.

you don’t agree? then it isn’t. but then you’re a genius in the divisive sense most of society understands: that is, very few of us can or will be this figure; and most of us will never be anywhere near.

which is elitism to the max, in fact.

only i don’t agree with this. i don’t believe such elitist approaches accurately reflect the human brain and how it best works. and when leaders in different fields impress on us to believe that they do reflect the state of human thought, and then build business models on such belief systems, we get a type of tech-kryptonite thrust into the most vulnerable core of human experience.

my experience, meantime, as a language teacher, then facilitator, then enabler (the progression taking place out of what almost became a fanatical frustration with the rank incompetence of traditional learning paths) showed me ALL humans can radically improve their thought processes, given the right environment.

and where processes can be improved dramatically, surprising — even shocking — outcomes can be achieved. and so i saw it happen. and was a convert.

platform genesis

this is why both my son, from whom i am now deeply estranged, and myself worked together for a while on a platform we named “platform genesis”.

the idea is that all of us, all human beings, can find the right tools to uncover some aspect of genius in our souls, hearts, and grey cells. it’s not the preserve of intellect: it’s mainly the preserve of confidence in oneself — whether one has it or not. if one doesn’t, intellect cannot follow. if one does, a happy series of accidents — where a given — will lead to your genius in some way or other.

https://platformgenesis.com

my happy path to my genius

a few minutes after the photo that follows was taken i met the muse of my life. it’s hard to admit that nothing i have thought up since 2016 that evening in dublin on the banks of the river liffey would now exist if we hadn’t met and spoken for three hours, as we shared a meal on the roof terrace of “the woollen mills”.

i had lost my fear of flying the day before, you see: the 15th of june of that same year, when i flew into dublin on ryanair for the first time, for precisely the meeting that would then take place on what was my birthday the following day. being the 16th. coincidently called, in ireland mainly, “bloomsday”. (and so don’t you think it’s cool to have a birthday called “bloomsday”? the day you are born being that, i mean.

don’t you?)

and so i literally lost my fear of flying that june. actually, truly, in a second. a total flip. a click of the brain’s chip that’s never clicked back.

and therefore in my wider life, too: because i assure you, quite objectively, i have a better brain now at 60-something than i have ever had the whole of my life before. and it’s NOT because of intelligence that i am far more intelligent than i could once have imagined myself becoming. it’s because of the confidence that slowly seeped into and then infused my brain, my heart, and my soul … as an utterly natural consequence of meeting the muse of my life.

the meaning of this … for me

bringing together the threads of this article, then, i now conclude:

1. none of my ideas since are mine to exploit exclusively for my own benefit.

2. none of my ideas since are mine.

3. none of my ideas are yours.

4. none of my ideas are yours to exploit exclusively for your benefit.

5. all of the ideas which have emerged after this meeting of ours, and precisely because we met, belong to no one — and therefore belong, altogether, to a whole planet and creative ecosystem.

because it WAS a sort of magic: and magic, the genius of genie, once uncorked CANNOT be boxed into a business model for the benefit of the few.

conclusion

when we upturn a paradigm, we can choose to leave the business model — and therefore the hegemony — untouched. or we can choose to upturn two paradigms simultaneously: the “thing” itself (for want of a better phrase), and how we get it out there as fast as possible.

what’s the problem i’m looking to solve with the #gutenbergofintuitivethinking and the #intuitionvalidationengine? and #intuitionvalidation more broadly?

https://www.ivepics.com

it’s not #darkfigure and #neocrime (only). it’s not #wastefulmeetings (only).

it’s not #loopholes and other zemiological activities (only).

it’s not the inability of #specialisms to duly and safely communicate across their knowledge lines (only).

rather, it’s something which informs all these use-cases — and many many more.

one UNCOMMON denominator: a denominator that connects everything in human experience since the dawn of rhymes:

truth. a concept of an absolute and indivisible truth.
so we kick relativism finally into the long grasses, where it may be admired and remembered but not treasured. nor missed. again.

mil williams, stockholm sweden, 5th april 2023

accept and underline, therefore, and deliver on and re-establish, as a result, that a VALIDATED truth may be something we can establish ABSOLUTELY.

not universal truth: i’m not sustaining this. we can still be dependent on circumstance and context. but in each of these, an unattackable truth.

just this: impossible to break.

this i believe. deeply. firmly. and now till i die.

and if so, even if only gently, this then leads this article to its final statements.

all of the above says to me only one thing: i need to know what i owe my muse. because if any of the above can happen to any useful degree one day, it will happen one day only because of the impact she had on me, that day.

it’s consequently NOT a fixation at all i have for you, my dear muse, but an almost overpoweringly intellectual — as well as obviously emotional — demand to work out to what extent i was just a lever someone pulled.

not that YOU pulled it, either. i don’t think this for a minute. no.

but a tool or extension of someone or something out there … why is this so impossible to propose or contemplate? or prosper as an assertion to be justly considered?

do you understand me now?

do you?
